MINGA's Wedding!

It has been a long time (or has felt like it!), but I have finally purchased a new laptop - so I am no longer hostage to my husband and can process and post pictures again!

So after taking my Photoshop Basics course at GBC, I learned that all of my pictures should be taken in "raw" format (why didn't any of the first two instructors I had say anything about this!?), so I took my first set at Matt and Inga's wedding which was on September 18, 2010 in downtown Toronto. Their church was just goregous. Dimly lit, so I really do need to learn how to use my flash - so many great pics turn out fuzzy!

For the lens, I mainly used my fish-eye, since they had such an amazing photographer that was capturing all of the details, figured the fish-eye would give a different set of pics!

The altar - can't get over how cute the ring bearer is!

The wedding party...though, I think I cut out one of the groomsman...must give props to wedding photographers - how do you know which lens to have?!?

Pop! And the Champagne is flowing!

Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts

Now that my "Art of Night Photography" class is over, it's more difficult to actually take my tripod out and go take pictures...but the other night I was driving home from a friend's and drove past the opera house...and it was so pretty with the glass windows and lights from the inside, so I went and took photos of it last night! It is so pretty - especially the North side, which has pretty lights hanging from the ceiling.

Just make sure you have someone with you when you go out at night...my husband dropped me off, since he had to do some work, but I would have felt much better if someone was watching my back...I still like the way they turned out though

CNE

Last year I took day pictures of the CNE for my final assignment in Digital Photography I at GBC, and this year our instructor took us back there for our last field trip...that was before my laptop and all my pictures were stolen (always back up!), so I had to go back and retake the set...and these may have actually turned out a bit nicer. Cloudy skies do give for some interesting background, I was able to get some really great silhouette shots...

Stolen

My 3 month old laptop got stolen. From the front seat of our car (husband left it there, since he didn't think Beverly by Baldwin in Toronto was a part of town he had to worry about). We live in the city. This is what happens. But you never think it will happen to you.

Lost most of pictures that I've been shooting the last two months with my "Art of Night Photogrpaphy" class I've been taking at George Brown College. A little sad about that... but hopefully I've learned that I need to back up my pictures on a regular basis.

I took the "Photoshop Basics" one day course at GBC this weekend, and the instructor advised to stock up on external hard drives and save pictures to more than one drive. I wish I had done that.

Fish Eye Love

MINGA!

Two weeks ago, my friends Matt & Inga (MINGA for short!) granted me the pleasure of taking some engagement shots for them! They were my second couple to capture through the lens, and they were a ton of fun!

Here's a few of my favourite to share:

From this shoot, I realized that I didn't take that many close ups of them. Not sure if that was a limitation I felt with my lenses? Most of my favourite ones were with the fish-eye, but I love all my pics with that lens!

Can't wait for their wedding day - less than a month away now! I'll be sure to bring my camera and see what I can capture. The whole camera bag ensemble is usually so cumbersome, but need to get over it - so many good shots are not even tried!
